University Policies & Other Resources
University policies and procedures regarding interpersonal violence, dating/domestic violence, and stalking cover a broader spectrum of behavior than that of North Carolina Law. The following resources will take you to specific policies that outline the University's standards and procedures for addressing these behaviors.
Through the Code of Student Conduct, the Office of Student Conduct strives to reduce and prevent behavior that undermines student academic success and that negatively detracts from the educational mission of the University; to improve the health and safety of students and the community; to provide timely support and resources for students; and to prevent violence in and around the University campus.
This document has been written to establish policies and procedures to comply with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). This policy informs current students and employees of the security and fire safety policies, procedures and practices. In addition, this report discloses statistics from the previous three years concerning reported crimes.
Appalachian State University is committed to providing an atmosphere in which students are free from all forms of impermissible discrimination. Harassment based upon race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, political affiliation, veteran status, or disability is a form of discrimination in violation of federal and/or State law and Appalachian State University policy. It is the internal policy of ASU to prohibit harassment and other forms of discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation as well as gender identity and expression. Neither harassment nor other forms of impermissible discrimination will be tolerated.
